1The "principal" is usually the person in charge of the agency. For example, the “principal� could be the owner or the designated agent in-charge. In addition to all applicable agency licenses, generally an agency must have a principal that holds a separate, valid license with equal or greater authority to the agency in each state in which the agency transacts business. See Florida Statutes §§ 626.112(7), 626.172; Texas Insurance Code § 4001.106; 28 Texas Administrative Code § 19.804.
